Visibility Director

Obsurfable's AI agent that orchestrates brand monitoring, gap analysis, content drafting, and publishing—in one conversation at /agent.

Overview

The Visibility Director (/agent) is Obsurfable's AI agent for Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). It works like a visibility lead on your team: you describe a goal, it delegates to specialist subagents, and you approve before expensive actions like full retrieval runs or publishing go live.

Unlike a generic chatbot, the Director is wired into your Brand Brain, monitored prompts, visibility score, and content tools—so it can run the full Setup → Monitor → Act loop from a single conversation.

Who it's for

  • Pro and Agency users who want agentic orchestration instead of clicking through every Monitor and Act screen manually
  • Marketing and growth leads running recurring visibility programs with approval gates on high-impact steps
  • Teams closing the loop from prompt scans to drafted content and subdomain publishing in one thread

Prerequisites

  1. A Pro (or Agency) plan—the Visibility Director is not available on Free.
  2. Completed onboarding with company profile, keywords, and competitors configured.
  3. (Recommended) At least one prompt run so the agent has monitoring context to build on.
  4. (Optional) Connected subdomain if you plan to publish drafts via the publisher subagent.

Step-by-step

Start a conversation

  1. Go to Agent in the sidebar or navigate to /agent.
  2. Click New conversation to create a fresh thread, or select an existing conversation from the sidebar.
  3. Describe what you want—e.g., "Run a visibility audit", "Why does Competitor X appear instead of us?", or "Draft a comparison page for [topic]".

Work through the agent loop

The Visibility Director follows a standard operating loop:

  1. Brand context — loads your company profile, keywords, competitors, and key facts via the brand intelligence subagent.
  2. Monitor — runs or reviews prompt retrieval with ChatGPT and web search via the visibility monitor subagent.
  3. Opportunities — turns results into prioritized recommendations via the opportunity analyst subagent.
  4. Content — drafts blog posts, comparisons, and FAQs via the content creator subagent.
  5. Publish — ships approved drafts to your connected subdomain via the publisher subagent.

You stay in the conversation thread while subagents do the heavy work. The Director summarizes results in plain language—mention rates, citation gaps, and what to create next.

Approve high-impact actions

  1. When the agent proposes a full retrieval run or publishing a draft, it asks for your explicit approval first.
  2. Review the proposed action and any draft content in the thread.
  3. Approve to proceed, or ask for revisions before anything goes live.

Resume later

  1. Conversations persist in the sidebar—context carries across sessions.
  2. Open a previous thread to continue a content plan, follow up on a gap analysis, or publish a draft you reviewed earlier.
  3. Each conversation is pinned to your active company workspace.

Example requests

  • "Run a visibility audit across my monitored prompts."
  • "Explain why [competitor] appears in category queries where we don't."
  • "Draft a comparison page targeting the gap from my last insights run."
  • "Summarize mention and citation trends from recent scans."
  • "Prepare a content plan for next quarter's AEO work."

Specialist subagents

SubagentRole
Brand intelligenceLoads and updates company profile, keywords, competitors
Visibility monitorRuns prompt scans; summarizes mentions and citations
Opportunity analystPrioritizes fixes—comparison pages, FAQs, structured data
Content creatorDrafts AEO/GEO posts aligned with your brand voice
PublisherPublishes approved drafts to your connected subdomain

The Director delegates to these specialists rather than doing retrieval, analysis, or publishing directly.

Tips

  • Start with a specific goal ("audit my top 5 prompts" beats "help with SEO")—the Director breaks it into steps.
  • Complete Setup first; thin Brand Brain context produces generic recommendations.
  • Treat the agent as a co-pilot, not autopilot—review drafts and approve publishes yourself.
  • Use the sidebar to maintain separate threads for audits, content sprints, and competitive deep-dives.
  • After the agent publishes content, re-run prompts to measure lift—close the loop manually or ask the Director to schedule a follow-up review.
  • Watch usage indicators in the chat UI; daily message and token limits apply per plan.

FAQ

Is the Visibility Director available on the Free plan?

No. The agent requires Pro or Agency. Free users can still run one-time prompt retrieval and use Scrapbook and Annotations.

Is this an AI agent or a chatbot?

It is an AI agent. It orchestrates multiple specialist subagents and can take multi-step actions across Obsurfable on your behalf—with your approval for high-impact steps like full retrieval runs and publishing.

How is it different from using ChatGPT directly?

ChatGPT does not know your Brand Brain, monitored prompts, competitor set, or past scan results. The Visibility Director is wired into Obsurfable's data model—it runs live prompt scans with web search, reads your visibility score, and can publish to your subdomain.

Does the agent publish content without permission?

No. Expensive actions like full retrieval runs and publishing require your explicit approval. You review drafts in the conversation before anything goes live.

What AI models does it use?

The Director orchestrates Obsurfable's monitoring stack, including ChatGPT with web search for retrieval-aware answers. Specialist subagents use models suited to each task—analysis, drafting, or publishing.

Are conversations saved?

Yes. Conversations persist in the sidebar at /agent. Open any previous thread to resume where you left off.

Is there a per-message fee for the agent?

The Visibility Director is included with Pro and Agency—no separate add-on. Daily message and token usage limits apply per plan; the UI shows remaining quota.

How does the agent relate to the four workflows?

The four workflows (Setup, Monitor, Act, Discover) are the manual path through Obsurfable. The Visibility Director automates orchestration across them—especially Monitor and Act—while you retain approval control.

Can I use the agent for non-visibility tasks?

No. The Visibility Director is an Obsurfable product assistant focused on AI visibility, brand monitoring, content strategy, and platform workflows.
