Compare Obsurfable Free and Pro plans — prompt retrieval limits, insights, site analysis, content, automations, and the Visibility Director agent.
Overview
Obsurfable offers a Free plan to evaluate AI visibility and a Pro plan (plus Agency for multi-client teams) for ongoing monitoring, analysis, and action.
The free plan is designed as a meaningful snapshot: complete onboarding, configure up to 50 company prompts, and run each prompt once to see how AI answers today. Pro unlocks the full AEO/GEO workflow — re-runs, insights, site analysis, content, automations, and the Visibility Director agent.

Understanding key plan gates
Prompt retrieve (Free — limited)
prompt_retrieve is the only AI feature fully available on Free, with important limits:
- You can create and manage up to 50 active company prompts.
- Each prompt can be retrieved once. After that, you'll need Pro to re-run.
- Web search during retrieval is Pro-only — free retrievals use the model without live web lookup.
This lets you answer: "How does AI talk about us today?" without paying — but not "How has it changed since we published new content?"
Pro-only features
These features require a paid plan:
| Plan feature key | User-facing name | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
content | Content | Generate and publish answer-first posts |
agent | Visibility Director | AI agent across monitoring and action |
site_analysis | Retrieval readiness | Sitemap crawl and structure report |
insights | Insights | Actionable AEO/GEO recommendations (also powers incident remediation) |
automations | Automations | Scheduled runs and workflow automation |
ai_suggestions | AI suggestions | Smart competitor and profile ideas |
web_search | Web search | Live search during prompt retrieval |
Locked features show a lock icon on the Dashboard but remain visible so you know what's available when you upgrade.
Step-by-step: choose your plan
Start on Free
- Go to app.obsurfable.com/signup?plan=free.
- Complete onboarding.
- Run your company prompts once and review results.
- Decide if ongoing monitoring and insights are worth Pro.
Upgrade to Pro
- From the app, visit Subscribe (
/subscribe) or click upgrade prompts on locked features. - Choose Pro (or Agency if managing multiple clients).
- Complete checkout — your account unlocks immediately.
- Re-run prompts, generate insights, and explore Site analysis.
Your Free-plan data — company profile, prompts, and first-run results — carries over. Nothing resets.
Tips
- Use Free for the "before" picture — Run diverse prompts once, screenshot results, then upgrade to measure "after" changes.
- Pro pays off when you act repeatedly — Insights, Content, and re-runs compound when you're actively publishing.
- Use Prompt explorer before brainstorming prompts — Discovery suggests relevant buyer questions from corpus and network data.
- Incidents + Compare runs pair well — Incidents tell you something changed; compare runs show the full diff.
- Retrieval readiness after content sprints — Run site analysis after publishing to validate structure improvements.
- Automations save time on Pro — Schedule prompt re-runs instead of manual weekly checks.
- Agency if you manage 3+ brands — Higher limits and client-friendly workflows.
FAQ
Is the free plan really free?
Yes. You can sign up, complete onboarding, and run prompt retrievals without a credit card. Limits apply to re-runs, web search, and Pro features as described above.
What happens to my data if I don't upgrade?
Your account, company profile, prompts, and first-run retrieval results remain accessible. You simply can't re-run prompts or use Pro features until you subscribe.
Can I switch from Pro to Free?
If you cancel a Pro subscription, you revert to Free limits. Historical data is retained, but re-runs and Pro features stop until you resubscribe.
How is Agency different from Pro?
Agency includes the same Pro feature set with higher limits for managing multiple client websites. Contact sales or check /subscribe in the app for current Agency pricing and company limits.
