Onboarding
Complete the 9-step wizard to set up your company profile, market context, goals, and keywords.
Overview
Onboarding is a 9-step wizard at /onboarding that creates your first company (brand) workspace. Answers feed prompts, insights, and content generation across Obsurfable. Progress is saved after each step—you can leave and resume where you left off.
Who it's for
Every new account and anyone who adds a new company from the header (each new company goes through onboarding).
Prerequisites
- A signed-in Obsurfable account with a confirmed email
- Your company's public website URL
Step-by-step
The wizard shows a progress bar and one step at a time. Click Continue to save and advance; use Back on steps 2–8.
| Step | Title | What you provide |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Your company | Company/brand name and primary website URL (required) |
| 2 | Market & stage | Country or market, company stage, team size, business type |
| 3 | What you do | Short overview of what you do and who you serve (optional) |
| 4 | What you want to achieve | Intent goals and target audience (multi-select) |
| 5 | How you grow today | Traffic sources and up to 3 growth tactics |
| 6 | What's frustrating | Biggest pain point about how people discover you |
| 7 | How familiar you are | Your comfort level with AI search and LLM visibility |
| 8 | Keywords & positioning | Keywords, outcome-oriented use cases, and competitors |
| 9 | You're all set | Summary of your answers; finish to enter the app |
Step 1 details
- Company name and website URL are required.
- Obsurfable may capture a website screenshot in the background (optional; won't block progress).
Step 8 details
- Add tags by typing and pressing Enter or clicking Add.
- Keywords, use cases, and competitors can be updated later from the Company page.
Finishing
On step 9, review the summary and click Finish (or Get started) to complete onboarding and go to the dashboard.
Tips
- Steps 2–7 use quick-select buttons and checkboxes—pick what fits; you don't need perfect answers on day one.
- Step 5 limits growth tactics to three choices to keep focus.
- If you add another company later, you'll return to /onboarding for that brand's profile.
- Onboarding data powers monitoring prompts and the Visibility Director—richer keywords and use cases improve recommendations.
